Blu Finds Family

Blu swam a little farther and spotted a deep-blue fish gliding above the reef.

This time, he knew exactly what he was looking at — an adult Blue Tang.

Blu thought about the bright-yellow youngster he had just met. The little fish and this big blue adult were the same species, even though they looked very different.

That made Blu smile. The reef was full of surprises, and every small neighbor had something new to teach him.

“So that little yellow fish really is one of my relatives!” Blu said. “I’m glad I looked closely.”

Blu’s Reef Tip — Look Beyond the Color!
Young reef fish can look very different as adults. A juvenile Blue Tang can be bright yellow before changing toward the deep blue color of an adult. Look carefully at shape, fins, markings, and behavior — and always give reef animals plenty of space.
